Please Welcome Kristin Smith to Project 2048
Kristin Smith is an interdisciplinary artist whose recent creative research has centered on the concept of an intelligent body where the body’s thoughts are realized through movement. Using photography, video projection, and installation, Smith highlights evidence of this intelligence. Most recently she collaborated with professional dancer Naomi Brand in her MFA thesis exhibition at the Nickle Arts Museum in Calgary, Canada.
During her CELLspace residency, Smith plans to expand the work to include those without professional movement training in order to address the intelligence inherent in all bodies.
If you are interested in participating in this project, please contact the artist directly at theintelligentbody@gmail.com

Kristin Smith comes from a diverse artistic background, often combining her love of physical theatre and visual art. Smith recently received her Art MFA in Mixed Media from the University of Calgary (2009), during which time she also participated in Interrarium, an interdisciplinary residency at the Banff Centre (2008). Her performance work was presented as a part of E-Merge for the Fluid Movement Arts Festival (2008), and she also enjoyed collaborating with companies such as kloetzel&co (Calgary & New York) and W&M Physical Theatre (Calgary & Poland) throughout her time in Calgary. Smith earned her BA in both Theatre Arts and Art from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 2004. While in Minneapolis, Smith directed and performed for the Minnesota Fringe Festival, The Varsity Theatre, and also trained under Kari Margolis.

Double Dutch Update
Hello Double Dutch Assassins!
We're looking for new recruits in the dark and often life-threatening world of double dutch. Two new Level 1 classes are beginning soon, so be sure to sign your soul away as soon as you can to ensure a place in the class. Spread the word and remember, Double Dutch is the only true religion! If you're unsure whether you're ready to join the legions of the jumping, pay $10 for the first class of Level 1. If you're not overwhelmed and a little frightened by the level of physical ecstasy experienced by the end of the class, you may go home unharmed. The dates for the new classes are as follows:
WEDNESDAYS: Starting October 7 at 7:00pm-8:30pm. Class is located at Studio Gracia at 19 Heron Street.
SUNDAYS: Starting November 1 at 12:00pm-1:30pm. Class is located at CellSpace at 2050 Bryant Street.
Sign up for the class now: http://www.sfcdoubledutch.com/store.php
If you're interested in the $10 trial class, send us an email letting us know which day of the week you'd like to come.
