Painting 101

A comprehensive introduction to painting with acrylics. Students will learn basic painting techniques as well as gain insight on drawing, perspective, and color as it pertains to the medium.

Meets Thursdays 8/2-9/6 7:15pm-10pm

Sew-Op (Open Sewing Lab)

(This class has reached its maximum enrollment for the Summer session)
 

Join Justine and learn sewing basics, alterations, costume creation, or used clothing reconstruction! Come with your own ideas and we will provide the machines, tools and support to sew like a champion. CELLspace has machines and fabric but feel free to bring your own machine, scissors and materials.

Meets Thursdays 8/2-9/13 7:15pm-10pm

Pinhole Camera Workshop

Come learn how to build and use your very own pinhole camera. Students will construct a simple "lenseless" camera out of a cylinder, load it with photographic paper, and create beautiful paper negatives. Includes materials.

Meets Saturday 8/18 11am-4:30pm

Fee: $65

 

Silkscreening Workshop

Section 1

 

In each weekend intensive workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of silkscreening onto paper and fabric. Students should bring an image to work with as well as any paper, t-shirts or textiles on which they wish to print.

Section 1 meets Sat 8/11 and Sun 8/12, 11am- 5pm

Fee: $170

Breakdancing

 

You know you've always wanted to learn! B-boy profo will teach you the foundation of the original hip hop dance form including toprocks, footwork and freezes.

Meets every Saturday in June, July, and August 12:30pm-2pm

Fee: $12/class or $100/10 classes
NO CLASS SATURDAY 8/4!!

 

Intro to Welding

 

A comprehensive introduction to metal working techniques. This course will cover oxy-acetylene mig welding, cutting, bending, and shaping metal, as well as finishing, grinding, and sanding welds. Limited to six students.

Meets Wednesdays 8/1-9/5 7pm-10pm

Fee: $300

 

Metal Working Lab

 

This is an instructional open studio for metal workers, including students who have taken the Intro to Welding course at CELLspace. Students will be introduced to TIG welding and non-ferrous metals while focusing on their own individual projects. Limited to six students.

Meets Tuesdays 7/31-9/4 7pm-10pm

Free Dance Workshop

Come join members of the Dandelion Dance Theatre and journey through dance, incorporating elements of experimental theatre, video, writing, music and image. 2 Free Workshops: Sunday 7/15 11am-1pm and Thursday 8/9 7:30pm-9:30pm

 

Bookbinding Workshop

 

Create beautifully handcrafted,
softcover and hardcover books that are perfect for journals, recipes, notes, and more. Not only will you take home several books, you will also take home the basic skills for making simple bound books from accordions to Japanese stab-binding.

Bike Kitchen
Learn to fix your bike, share tools, info, and resources. At this cooperative, community bicycle repair shop, volunteer mechanics will help you fix your bike. Located at 1256 Mission St @ 9th. Tues & Thurs 6pm-9pm and sats 11am-4pm www.bikekitchen.org

Reason/ Ableton Live Course

 

Learn to create your own electronic music and use your computer as a compositional tool. This intensive weekend workshop will give students the confidence to use samples, create textures and beats and effectively re-mix electronic music.

Meets Sat 8/25 10:30am-4:30pm and Sun 8/26 10:30am-4:30pm

Fee: $180

 

Web Design Using Flash

 

Explore the native drawing, animation, multimedia, and authoring capabilities of Flash. Students will a;so learn principles of classic animation within the Flash program.

Meets Sat 9/8 11am-4pm and Sun 9/9 11am-4pm

Fee: $165

 

Photoshop Crash Course

 

This is an intensive introductory workshop on Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn basic techniques including layering, filters, masking, color pallets, channels, paths and much more. Students, without knowledge of Photoshop, wishing to take the web design courses, are encouraged to take this course first.

3 one-day classes to choose from: Sat 8/4, Sun 8/5 or Sat 8/11 (All 3 meet from 10:30am-4pm)

Fee: $125


**Our Media Arts Classes fill up quickly, so sign up soon! Class sizes are limited to nine students. Each student will be able to use her/his own computer in our Media Lab.
